so i had a bit of a rough landing last week (ok fine it was a crash into some trees) and now my gimbal is doing this weird stuttering thing when it tries to pitch down. it works fine going up but when it goes down it sort of jerks and makes this clicking noise. the camera footage is basically unusable now

anyone know if this is just a calibration issue or did i probably break something inside? its a 3 axis gimbal on my phantom 4 pro. everything else seems to work fine, motors sound normal when im just hovering

sounds like you might have damaged one of the pitch axis motor magnets or the hall sensor got knocked loose. that clicking is usually mechanical damage not software. you can try recalibrating through the app but if it keeps happening you'll probably need to replace the pitch motor assembly

happened to me on my mavic after i hit a branch, exact same symptoms. ended up being like $80 for the part if you can install it yourself

before you spend money try doing the IMU calibration and then the gimbal calibration. sometimes a hard impact can throw off the sensors and make it think its level when its not. also check if any of the gimbal arms are slightly bent, even a tiny bend can cause binding
