my tune feels sluggish doing splitS and i cant figure out why

so ive been flying freestyle for about a year now mostly on a 5inch build and lately my split S just feels... mushy? like the quad rolls over fine but when it snaps back down theres this weird lag and it feels like the nose wont commit. running betaflight 4.4 and i bumped my D term up a little while back thinking it would help with propwash but now im wondering if thats whats killing my snappiness on the flip portion.

anyone else had this? not sure if its a tune thing or just my flying tbh. i watched my DVR back and it definitely looks like the quad is fighting me on the pull through part

yeah D term too high will absolutely do that, kills the responsiveness and makes everything feel like youre flying through mud on the sharp inputs. i'd back it off like 5-8 points and see if that helps before touching anything else. also check your filtering, sometimes people stack too much RPM filter on top of heavy lowpass and it adds latency you can feel on fast maneuvers like splitS

what FC are you running btw, some of them have default filter profiles that are way too conservative for freestyle

honestly could also just be stick technique, not trying to be rude. i had the same feeling for months and turns out i was releasing the roll input too early before the pull so the quad was already trying to self-level before i was done with the maneuver. felt like a tune issue but it was me lol
