ok so this is kind of stressing me out. i was flying in my neighborhood just trying to get some footage of the area and i guess i drifted over this guys backyard without really meaning to, wasnt super low or anything maybe 150 feet up. the guy came out and started yelling and took a video of my drone on his phone. now im wondering if i actually broke any laws here. i do have my part 107 but i was flying recreationally not commercially at the time if that even matters. i dont think i was doing anything that crazy but the guy seemed really mad and i dont know if he can actually report me to anyone or if anything would even happen

the airspace thing is actually more complicated than most people realize. technically the FAA controls navigable airspace and theres been a lot of debate about where private property rights end and public airspace begins, theres no clean federal answer on it. practically speaking at 150ft youre probably fine from an FAA standpoint. the bigger risk is local ordinances around privacy, some states have specific drone voyeurism or surveillance laws that could apply even if you werent trying to spy on anyone. what state are you in? that matters a lot here. also just from an experience standpoint, angry neighbors can file complaints with the FAA and while most of them go nowhere it can be a headache to deal with. probably not worth flying that specific area again for a while

i mean if you werent doing anything sketchy you're probably fine but i'd just stay away from that street for a bit lol. people get weird about drones over their property even when its totally legal. ive had similar situations and nothing ever came of it but its just not worth the stress
