EVO Nano+ worth it over the Mini 3 Pro? genuinely torn here

  • Members

so ive been going back and forth on this for like three weeks now and i need someone to just talk me off the ledge or push me one way. my budget is right around $800 and i keep landing on either the EVO Nano+ or the DJI Mini 3 Pro and i honestly cannot make up my mind.

the thing is i live in Canada so the whole no-registration-under-250g thing matters to me, both of these qualify. but the Nano+ has that 1/1.28 sensor which sounds impressive on paper and the colors i've seen from it look really cinematic without much grading. on the other hand everything in my brain keeps screaming just get the DJI because ecosystem, support, accessories everywhere.

has anyone actually flown both or switched from one to the other? would love to hear from people who've spent real time with the Nano+ because most of what i find online is just spec sheets dressed up as reviews.

had the Nano+ for about 8 months before i picked up a Mini 3 Pro and honestly both are good but in different ways. the Nano+ image quality genuinely surprised me, like the dynamic range especially in golden hour stuff was really punchy and i barely had to touch it in post. but the obstacle avoidance on it is basically a joke compared to the Mini 3 Pro, its more of a warning system than actual avoidance so if you're flying in tighter spots or trees you'll want to be careful.

the DJI app and ecosystem is just so much more polished though. Autel's app has gotten better but it still feels a little rough around the edges sometimes. that said if image quality in good light is your priority and you're a fairly confident flier already, the Nano+ is absolutely worth it and you'd be getting something a bit different from what everyone else is flying.

im pretty new to all this but i went with the Nano+ like two months ago and dont regret it. the colors really are as good as people say. only thing i'll say is make sure you update the firmware before your first flight because mine had a weird issue with the gimbal on the initial version and updating fixed it right away. Autel support was actually pretty helpful when i reached out too which i wasnt expecting
