so anyway i finally got it working. dont know what clicked but i went out this morning and just committed to pulling through harder at the top and it just... worked. did it like 4 times in a row over this gap in the trees near my spot. the trick for me was stopping being scared at the inverted part and just trusting the throttle. been watching MattyFlips videos on repeat for weeks and i think it just finally sank in. my tune is nothing special btw, stock betaflight 4.3 with just some minor rate tweaks, nothing crazy

thats the thing with power loops nobody tells you, its 90% committing to it. the quad will do the thing if you just let it. congrats on getting it down, now wait til you try to link one into a split S lol

ive been strugling with these too. what are your rates if you dont mind sharing? im wondering if mine are part of the problem or if its all just technique like you said
