so ive been messing with my 5inch for like 3 weeks trying to get it to feel right for freestyle and rolls just feel sluggish and almost mushy but then when i do flips its super snappy and responsive. its weird because i feel like they should kinda feel similar? im running fairly stock betaflight rates, havent touched the actual PID tune much just bumped up the master multiplier a bit. running 2306 motors on a 4s setup. not sure if this is a rates thing or a PID thing or maybe something completely different. anyone run into this before

almost definitely your rates. roll axis just needs higher rcrate or more expo dialed out if you want that snappy punch feel. flips feel faster partly becasue you're hitting full deflection quicker on pitch vs roll ? most people naturally flick the stick harder on pitch. try bumping your roll rate a bit and see if that changes anything before touching PIDs

i had the exact same thing on my build and it drove me insane for weeks. ended up being my rates were just really uneven between pitch and roll without me realizing it. also worth checking if your props are balanced because a mushy roll can sometimes just be vibration killing the gyro response and it feels like a tune issue but its not
