Building my first dedicated race setup - Catalyst Machineworks frame, 2207 motors but can't decide between 2450kv or 2650kv. Track usually has tight technical sections and I'm targeting 100+ mph on straights. Running 4s with 5040x3 triblade props. Will the higher KV give me better punch out of corners or just burn more current? I know capacitors are important for ESC protection but wondering if higher KV motors stress the electrical system more during rapid throttle changes.

2450kv is your sweet spot for track racing. You'll have better efficiency and more controllable power delivery in tight sections. Only competitive racers tend to notice ultra-low latency differences so focus on smooth, predictable power over raw top end.

I run 2650kv 2207s on my race quad and love the instant throttle response. Yes, it draws more current but the acceleration out of tight corners is worth it. Balance your props before first flight - higher KV motors show vibration issues more.

Have you considered your battery discharge rate? Higher KV will demand more from your 4s pack during aggressive maneuvers. High-performance drones require massive amounts of power delivered in short bursts so make sure your C-rating can handle it.
