ok so I've been flying my EVO Nano+ for about 8 months now and I genuinely love it but my buddy keeps telling me I should have just gotten the Mini 3 Pro instead. I picked Autel partly because of the no geofencing thing and the orange color is honestly easier to spot in the sky which sounds dumb but it matters when you're flying over fields.

the 50mp sensor on the Nano+ still blows me away for such a small drone and the dynamic range is really solid. but lately ive been noticing the obstacle avoidance is kinda... not great? like it detects stuff but the reactions feel sluggish compared to what ive seen on youtube with the DJI. also the Autel Sky app has crashed on me twice mid-session which is not fun.

anyone here flown both and can give me an honest take? not looking for a fanboy answer either way just want to know if im missing out or if my buddy is just a DJI guy through and through

I've owned both actually, had the Mini 3 Pro for about 4 months before switching to the EVO Nano+ and honestly neither one is a clear winner it really depends what you shoot. The Mini 3 Pro's vertical shooting mode is genuinely useful if you do any social media content, and the obstacle avoidance is more responsive yeah. But the Nano+ image quality at 50mp is hard to argue with and like you said the no geofencing thing is a real practical advantage depending on where you fly.

The Autel Sky app is the weak point no question. I've had it freeze on me a couple times. Someone on here mentioned using a dedicated older tablet instead of a phone helped with stability, haven't tried it myself but worth a shot. Honestly though I don't regret the Nano+ for what I use it for which is mostly landscape stuff and the occasional real estate job.

the orange color thing is not dumb at all lol I lost a dark grey mini momentarily against a cloudy sky and my heart basically stopped. practical stuff matters
