so ive been flying for about a year now and i still just have the original DJI shoulder bag that came with my fly more combo and honestly its fine for throwing in the car but im starting to do more actual travel, like checked luggage and overhead bin stuff, and im a bit nervous about it

been looking at the Nanuk 925 and the Pelican 1510 but those seem like overkill maybe? also they're pretty heavy on their own before you even put the drone in. a buddy of mine uses some random Amazon case with foam he cut himself and says its held up fine but that kind of sketches me out a little

just wondering what other people are actually using day to day, not looking for the "best" option necessarily just something reasonably protective that doesnt add a ton of weight. going to Portugal next month so kind of need to figure this out soon

I have the Nanuk 920 (smaller than the 925) for my Mini 3 and it's genuinely great but yeah it adds weight for sure. For overhead bin travel I actually switched to a Shimoda Explore 30 backpack with the drone cube insert and it fits everything way better and doesnt look like a camera case which i think matters more than people admit. customs and airport security pay way less attention to it

for checked luggage though the hard case is hard to beat, especially if youre putting filters and spare props in there too. i just wouldnt trust soft bags for that

honestly the DIY foam route isnt as sketchy as it sounds lol ive done it and it works fine if you take your time with it. but if you want something ready to go, the Torvol Quad Pitstop case is what a lot of people i know use for travel, its not as bulky as a Pelican and the foam cutouts are already decent for the mini series. portugal sounds sick btw
