Working on dialing in my 5" freestyle build and wondering about D gains. Currently running stock Betaflight settings (P:45, D:40) but I keep reading that if freestyle is your preference, boost the D values to increase the smoothness of your quad. My motors aren't getting too hot and I want that buttery smooth feel. What D values are you guys running?

• Motors: 2806 1300kv on 6S
• Props: HQ 7x4x3

Higher D-gain is often favored in freestyle. It dampens propwash, reduces bounce-back after flips and rolls, and contributes significantly to the 'buttery' smooth feel. I'm running D around 55-60 on my 6S build with good results.

Be careful pushing D too high! Experiment with increasing D-gain gradually, but be mindful of motor temperature ? excessively high D can cause motors to run hot. I learned that the hard way and fried my motors last month.

For a 6S 7" setup like yours, on a 6S quad, D gains might be in the 30s, while on a 4S they are usually in the 40s. Your bigger props will handle lower D values better. Try bumping to 45-50 and see how it feels.
