Mini 3 Pro vs Air 3 ? is the upgrade actually worth it for a casual flyer

  • Members

so ive had my Mini 3 Pro for about a year and a half now and honestly i love it, no real complaints. but my brother keeps telling me i should upgrade to the Air 3 and i keep going back and forth on it. i mostly fly on weekends, do some hiking trips, occasionally shoot stuff for my own youtube channel which has like 200 subscribers so nothing serious lol. the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance on the Air 3 sounds nice but i rarely fly in situations where i actually need it. the dual camera thing is interesting though, i do wish i had a bit more zoom sometimes. anyway curious if anyone here has used both and whether the jump felt meaningful or more like just spending money for marginal gains

honestly i made that exact jump about six months ago and my take is it depends on how much you actually use the zoom. i thought i wouldnt care either but once i had it i started using the 3x all the time, especially for wildlife stuff where you cant really get close. the obstacle avoidance is genuinely better but like you said if youre flying open areas on hikes it probably wont change your day to day experience that much. battery life on the Air 3 is noticeably better too which i didnt expect to matter as much as it does. if youre happy with your footage right now though theres no burning reason to upgrade, the Mini 3 Pro files still look great
