mini 4 pro keeps drifting even indoors?? not sure whats happening

  • Members

so ive had my mini 4 pro for about 3 months now and lately ive noticed when i hover inside my garage just to test stuff before going out, it like slowly drifts to one side. not a huge amount but enough that i have to keep correcting. outside its less noticeable i think because of wind already being a factor so i dont notice? idk. i calibrated the IMU last week and it didnt really seem to help. compass is calibrated too. sticks are centered fine as far as i can tell in the controller settings.

is this just a vision positioning thing or something else. the floor in my garage is pretty plain concrete, no texture really. could that be it? or do i have a motor issue brewing. i dont want to send it in if its not necessary

plain concrete floors are actually a known issue with the downward vision sensors, they basically cant find reference points so the drone cant hold position properly. try putting down a patterned mat or even just a cardboard box with some markings on it underneath and see if that changes anything. ive seen people solve this exact problem with literally a piece of newspaper on the floor lol. GPS wont help you indoors obviously so its entirely dependent on those vision sensors.

if it still drifts the same amount over a textured surface then yeah maybe worth looking at the trim settings or actually contacting DJI but id try the surface thing first, its almost always that

had same thing with my mini 3, drove me crazy for weeks. turned out i had sport mode on and didnt realize it behaves differently in terms of how aggressively it corrects. probably not your issue but worth double checking which mode youre in when hovering
