okay so i finally took it out to a local park yesterday. no people around, open field, felt like a good spot. got it up fine and honestly it was smoother than i expected. the video looked pretty good when i got home and watched it back. BUT a few things i want to ask about because im not sure if they were normal or if i did something wrong.

first, the return to home kicked in at some point when i wasnt expecting it and it flew way higher than where i launched from, like way up. i know that has something to do with obstacle avoidance but the SE doesnt have sensors on all sides right so i wasnt sure why it went so high. second thing is the footage had this kind of jello wobble thing for the first like 30 seconds and then it went away. camera issue? i was flying in a light breeze. third thing is more of a general thing, how do you guys decide what ND filter to use, i bought a kit but i dont really understand when to use which one

the RTH altitude is something you set yourself before you fly, its in the safety settings in the app. it defaults pretty high i think like 30 meters, you can lower it if youre in an open area but just make sure its above any trees or obstacles between you and home. it went high because thats what it was told to do basically, not a malfunction.

jello in the first bit is usually the gimbal warming up or stabilizing, pretty normal especially if its cold out or you launched quickly. as for ND filters the basic rule most people use is the 180 degree shutter rule, so if youre shooting 30fps you want your shutter at 1/60 and you pick the ND that gets you close to that exposure. there are charts online that help. honestly for starting out just go out without them and see how the footage looks and then go from there, dont overthink it right away

the jello thing happened to me too when i first got mine and i panicked thinking the gimbal was broken. its fine, just takes a second to settle. also dont forget to remove the gimbal cover before flying, sounds obvious but ive seen so many posts where thats the actual problem haha
