so anyway i finally got betaflight 4.5 on and something is just off. the quad doesnt feel wrong exactly but its like it lost some of the snappiness it had before, rolls feel slower to initiate and it kind of floats through the end of maneuvers in a way it wasnt doing before. rates feel about the same when i look at the numbers.

i did copy my old diff all over but some settings obviously dont carry across versions perfectly and im wondering if something in the filtering defaults changed or if theres a new master multiplier thing im not accounting for. i vaguely remember someone mentioning that 4.5 changed some of the RPM filter defaults.

its a 5 inch, 2306 motors, runs DSHOT600, nothing exotic. flew great on 4.4.3 for months. any ideas where to start

4.5 did change some filtering defaults yeah, the RPM filter lowpass frequencies shifted a bit and theres also changes to how the dynamic idle works which can absolutely affect how the quad feels at the end of rolls if its not set right. first thing id do is pull up the motors tab and watch motor values at idle, if theyre hunting around or sitting too low that'll cause exactly the floaty feeling youre describing at the end of manuevers.

also check if thrust linearization got reset, that one catches people off guard on reflashes and it changes the whole feel of the throttle response. its under the motors tab too. if you were running it at like 20-25 before and its sitting at 0 now thatll do it.

did you check if iterm relax settings came across correctly? i had something similar and it turned out my iterm relax cutoff was way lower than before because of a default change and it was making everything feel mushy. not saying thats definitely it but worth checking alongside what the other guy said about dynamic idle
