DJI FPV randomly dropping to normal mode mid flight, anyone else seen this

  • Members

this has been driving me nuts for a few weeks now. im in manual mode, everything feels fine, and then out of nowhere the thing just bails back to normal mode on its own. no warning i can really notice, just suddenly the aircraft is doing its own thing and fighting my inputs. happened twice near a sports field and once in my backyard so i dont think its an interference thing, or maybe it is i dont know.

firmware is current, i reflashed the controller last week thinking that might do something. my motion controller is in the bag and not paired so its not like theres a conflicting input source. the only thing i havent tried is swapping the goggles out but i dont have a spare set to test with. remote 2 controller by the way, not the motion one.

anyone had this happen or know what actually causes it, because the DJI support response was basically useless

yeah this happened to me and it turned out to be the mode switch on the remote getting bumped, i had mine mapped in a way where it could toggle modes if the switch moved even slightly. worth checking your controller mapping and maybe physically taping the switch in place just to rule it out. sounds dumb but it fixed mine immediately

could also be a GPS lock thing depending on your settings ? i think theres a threshold where if it decides you need intervention it overrides. i vaguely remember reading something about that in the fly app config but i cant remember where exactly. also is your IMU calibrated recently, i know that sounds like a stretch but mine was doing weird stuff before i did a fresh cali after changing mounting positions. probably not your issue but worth crossing off the list before you send it in

DJI support really is hopeless for anything beyond the canned troubleshooting steps, not surprised they didnt help
