finally pulled the trigger on a prebuilt, is the DJI O3 stuff actually worth the premium

so ive been building my own 5inch quads for like 3 years now and honestly im just tired of spending weekends soldering and troubleshooting ESC issues when i just want to fly. been looking hard at the Avata 2 and also the BetaFPV Pavo series but also someone mentioned the iFlight Chimera7 and now im down a rabbit hole again

my main thing is i want decent freestyle capability, not trying to do cinematic slow stuff, actually want to throw it around a bit. im running DJI goggles 2 already so the O3 integration is obviously appealing but i dont know if paying that much over an analog or Walksnail setup is actually justified when the prebuilt market is kind of saturated right now

anyone actually flown both O3 prebuilts and the Walksnail stuff back to back? like real world not spec sheets

had the Pavo25 for about 6 months and before that was running an analog cinewhoop i built myself so somewhat similar situation. honestly the O3 latency difference is noticeable if youre used to analog, not in a bad way, it just feels different at first. the image quality tho when youre doing proximity flying through trees or whatever is genuinely kind of insane, you pick up so much detail

for freestyle on a 25 sized bird its fine but if you want to actually rip i think youre looking at the wrong form factor. the Chimera7 is a different animal, more punch obviously but also way heavier and youre gonna feel that on flips and rolls. depends what kind of freestyle youre talking about i guess

Walksnail on a prebuilt is cheaper entry but ive had two guys at my local field have dropouts in heavy tree cover that i havent seen with O3, small sample size tho so dont take that as gospel

the avata 2 is not really a freestyle quad imo, like avata 1 also wasnt, its more of a explore and film thing. if you already have goggles 2 and want to throw something around id honestly look at the iFlight nazgul or similar 5inch with O3 air unit already installed, there are a few options now that come basically ready to bind and fly without the whole cinewhoop shape
