cant get my rolls to stop wobbling mid trick

so ive been trying to nail split-s into a roll combo and every time i do the roll portion the quad just kind of shudders and wobbles through it, doesnt snap clean at all. feels like its fighting me the whole way. running a 5inch with BF 4.4 and the tune feels okay for general flying but tricks just feel mushy. not sure if its a P term thing or if my rates are just garbage for this style of flying

been watching a bunch of Rotor Riot stuff and their rolls look so crisp and snappy, mine just look drunk lol. anyone dealt with this before

yeah almost definitely your D term is too low or your P is too high relative to it, you get that kind of oscillation mid-roll when the gyro is overcorrecting and cant settle. try bumping D up a few clicks and see if it tightens up. also what props are you on because worn props will make any tune feel like garbage no matter what you do

honestly my rolls looked the same way until i completely redid my rates. i was using like 700 on acro trainer mode borrowed rates and they were way too slow for snappy freestyle. switched to something more like what Isak runs and suddenly everything started feeling way more intentional if that makes sense. the quad wasnt the problem at all it was just me not giving it enough input fast enough
