EVO II Pro keeps losing signal way closer than it should ? anyone dealt with this

  • Members

this has been bugging me for a while and i finally decided to post because its getting annoying. basically im losing the video feed somewhere around 800-900 meters out, sometimes less, and the specs obviously say way more than that. happens in open fields not near any obvious interference sources

im on the stock controller, havent modded anything. it started after the last firmware update i think but honestly i cant be totally sure about that timing. signal strength drops fast and then it either recovers or i get the RTH kicking in which i dont want happening at that distance

wondering if its an antenna thing or something in the settings i screwed up somewhere

check your controller antennas first, sounds obvious but make sure theyre both fully tightened and oriented correctly ? flat face toward the drone not edge-on. i had a similar drop-off issue and one of mine was just slightly loose from being tossed in a bag too many times

also worth checking if youre on 5.8ghz vs 2.4ghz in the app settings, 5.8 gives better bandwidth but falls off faster at range. if your flying environment changed at all even a little, like more wifi routers in the area or whatever, that could push you toward 2.4 being the better choice even if it wasnt before

had something weirdly similar after an update on my EVO II, rolled back the firmware and it went back to normal range. Autel does have older firmware versions on their site still i think, might be worth trying if nothing else works. its a bit of a pain but it narrowed down the problem for me pretty fast
