I've been running parallel processing tests between Pix4Dmapper and DroneDeploy for complex structure inspections. Both using identical M300 RTK datasets with GCPs. Pix4Dmapper achieves survey-grade data with <1 cm accuracy, while DroneDeploy ranges between 1 cm and 5 cm accuracy even with sufficient GCPs.
DroneDeploy's Structure mode processes complex vertical and horizontal data into point cloud 4x denser than Terrain mode, with extremely precise results when used with GCPs. However, Pix4Dmapper generates fantastic quality point clouds with additional optional filling and smoothing to improve planarity.
The workflow differences are significant too. While both offer cloud processing, Pix4D offers desktop processing as well, advantageous for public safety operatives who prioritize data security. Processing times vary considerably between platforms.
Anyone else running similar comparisons? Particularly interested in volumetric accuracy results for stockpile measurements.
