this has been bugging me for a while and its starting to stress me out honestly. been flying for about a year and a half, never had major issues, and then the last maybe 6 or 7 flights ive been getting these random disconnects. not full RTH situations, more like the video feed cuts for a few seconds and the controller goes quiet and then it comes back. sometimes happens close in, sometimes further out, doesnt seem to follow a pattern.

i updated the firmware a couple months ago and im wondering if thats related but i cant prove it. flying in the same spots ive always flown, nothing changed as far as i can tell. its not crashing or anything but its making me nervous and i dont fully trust it right now which kind of defeats the purpose

first thing id check is which wifi channels are active near your flying spots ? 2.4ghz interference has gotten genuinely bad in a lot of areas over the past year or two, more devices everywhere. go into the DJI fly app and manually set the transmission channel to something specific instead of letting it auto select, sometimes auto just picks badly. also worth checking if the antennas on your controller are properly oriented relative to the aircraft, i know it sounds basic but its suprisingly easy to get lazy about that after flying for a while.

if its still happening after that id look at the signal strength logs in the fly app after a flight, there's usually enough info in there to at least narrow down if its the controller side or the drone side dropping out first.

what mavic is it? that might matter a lot here, some of the older ones had known issues with certain firmware versions that DJI kind of quietly fixed later. ive seen people roll back firmware and have it sort itself out which is annoying but sometimes it is what it is
