EVO Nano+ vs Mini 3 Pro ? am i crazy for considering the Autel

  • Members

ok so hear me out. i know DJI basically owns this market and everyone flies a Mini 3 Pro but ive been looking at the EVO Nano+ pretty seriously and i actually think it might be the better buy for what i need. the main thing for me is no geofencing ? i fly near some controlled airspace pretty regularly and i have my Part 107 so i can get authorizations but the DJI unlocking process has been a headache for other pilots i know. Autel doesnt do the same kind of hard locks and that matters to me. image quality seems comparable from what ive seen on youtube but i havent flown one myself. anyone daily driving a Nano+ who can give me a real world take on it, not a review channel take

youre not crazy, the geofencing thing is a totally legit reason to go Autel. i had a Nano+ for about eight months before i sold it and honestly the image quality is solid, especially in good light. low light is where the Mini 3 Pro pulls ahead noticeably just because of the larger sensor but for daytime stuff the Nano+ holds its own. battery life was decent, i was getting around 25-27 minutes in calm conditions. my one complaint was the obstacle avoidance felt a little less refined than DJI but it still works fine. the app also got a lot better over the time i had it, Autel pushes updates pretty regularly which i appreciated

the geofencing argument is a bit oversimplified imo ? DJI's self-unlock for Part 107 holders is actually pretty straightforward these days, takes like five minutes once your license is verified in the app. that said i get why people prefer Autel for the principle of it. i dont think youre making a bad choice, just wanted to push back on that one point. the Nano+ is a capable little drone
