so ive been chasing this problem for like two weeks now and im losing my mind. running a 5inch freestyle build, f7 stack, 2306 motors, and motor 3 just stutters randomly when i punch around 40-60% throttle. full throttle its fine, low throttle its fine, its specifically that mid range that does it.

ive already swapped the prop on that motor thinking it was a balance thing, no change. reflashed the ESC firmware, recalibrated, nothing. the motor itself spins smooth by hand, no grinding, bearing feels fine. desync maybe? ive been messing with the RPM filter settings in betaflight but honestly i dont fully understand what im doing there and might be making it worse.

anyone dealt with something like this before. im kind of suspecting the motor windings at this point but wanted to check before i just order a replacement.

had almost the exact same thing on a 2207 last season. turned out to be a partial short in one of the phase wires right where it enters the motor bell, wasnt visible from the outside. i only found it because i was really bending the wire around and noticed continuity was dropping. the mid throttle range is weirdest for these kinds of partial faults because thats where the current draw transitions the most.

before you bin the motor id suggest swapping the motor to a different ESC channel and seeing if the problem follows the motor or stays on that channel. if it follows the motor youre probably looking at a winding or wire issue. if it stays on the channel then its your ESC pad or the ESC itself on that output. its a 5 minute swap and saves you guessing.

desync was my first thought too but honestly on modern 32bit ESCs with bidirectional dshot its pretty rare unless your motor timing is way off. what motor timing are you running? some of the 2306 motors from certain brands run better at high timing and can act weird at default settings in that mid throttle zone. worth trying bumping it up a bit if youre still on auto or low.
