Finally got my Part 107 certification last month and I'm ready to start my drone business! I've got a decent DJI Mini 4 Pro and basic liability insurance lined up. But now what?

Everyone talks about the how to get certified, but I'm struggling with the practical side - where do I actually find people who need drone services? I live in a mid-sized city and see tons of real estate listings that could use aerial shots, but I have no idea how to approach agents.

Any veterans here have advice on landing those first few paying gigs? I don't want to lowball myself but also need to build a portfolio somehow.

Start with your immediate network first! Friends, family, anyone who might know a realtor or small business owner. The most successful drone businesses specialize rather than offering everything to everyone, so pick one thing (real estate, events, whatever) and get really good at that first.

I literally walked into real estate offices with my phone showing sample shots and business cards. Sounds old-school but it worked! Most agents had never thought about drone photography but once you show them the difference it makes, they get it. Just be prepared to do a few shoots at cost to build that portfolio.

Facebook groups and local business networking events are gold mines. Also check your city's permits department - sometimes construction companies need aerial progress shots and you can see who's pulling permits for big projects. Don't forget about insurance requirements though - most clients will demand you have $1 million in coverage.
