ok so this is maybe a dumb idea but hear me out. we had a client who wanted to do a promotional thing where the drone drops a small banner or lightweight package during an event, nothing crazy, maybe 300-400 grams. i figured the Inspire 2 could handle it since the thing lifts an X7 with no problem and that setup is already pretty heavy. anyway we rigged a simple release mechanism under the belly and the first couple drops in testing went fine, maybe a little attitude wobble after release but nothing alarming.

then on the third drop something went sideways, pretty sure the CG shift after release caused the bird to pitch forward pretty aggressively, caught it in manual but it scared the hell out of me. ended up scrapping the whole payload idea for that shoot. anyone ever done payload work with the Inspire series and actually gotten it dialed? im guessing the issue was the release point wasnt centered well enough but not totally sure

yeah CG is everything with any kind of drop payload setup. 300-400g sounds light but when it releases suddenly the flight controller has to recompute the whole trim situation in real time and if the release isnt perfectly on the thrust axis you get exactly what you described. the Inspire 2 isnt really designed for this kind of thing and the FC doesnt have any mode for anticipating a weight change mid flight. honestly surprised it only wobbled and didnt do something worse. would not try that over a crowd.

ive done something similar for a film thing, not a drop exactly but we had a lightweight tether attached that had variable drag and the Inspire handled it surprisingly okay once we got the attachment point dialed in. but what youre describing sounds like the release point was probably forward of center which would explain the pitch forward. even a centimeter off matters more than people expect. also curious what release mechanism you used, was it servo triggered or something else
