ok so i kind of signed up for a local club race on impulse and now its thursday and im freaking out a little. ive been flying for about 8 months, mostly just messing around at a park and doing some light freestyle but ive never actually raced in any kind of organized format. its a multiGP chapter race i think, 5inch open class

my quad is running a f7 stack with 2306 motors on 6s, tmotor or something similar, and my video is analog which should be fine for the class. i just dont really know what to bring, how the timing works, how many batteries i should have, whether i need to tech in early... the website had info but it was kind of all over the place and i couldnt figure out the order of operations basically

any tips from people who have done these before would be really helpful. also should i bother trying to change anything on my tune before sunday or just leave it

dont touch your tune. seriously. i cannot stress this enough. the week before a race is the worst possible time to start messing with filters or rates because if something goes wrong you wont know if its the tune or nerves or the track. fly what you know

for batteries bring more than you think you need, probably 6 minimum if you have them. multiGP rounds go fast but if you have issues or a crash and need to swap something you dont want to be sitting out because you ran out of packs. also get there early for tech inspection, like at least 30-45 min before the pilots meeting, the line can get long and they're usually strict about starting on time. most chapters are pretty welcoming to new guys so dont stress too much, just tell people its your first race and they'll usually help you out with how the staging and marshaling works

yeah what he said about the tune, leave it alone. also bring zip ties, spare props obviously, and if you have a soldering iron throw it in the car just in case. ive seen people get knocked out of a race because of a loose connector they couldve fixed in 10 minutes if they had their kit with them. good luck, first races are always a bit chaotic but its addictive once you get going
