honest thoughts on the DJI Mini 4 Pro after 6 months ? worth it or nah

so i've had the mini 4 pro since last spring and figured i'd finally write up something more useful than the youtube reviews that are basically just sponsored content dressed up as opinions

the good: obstacle avoidance is genuinely impressive for something this small, way better than the mini 3 pro which i had before and sold. the omnidirectional sensors actually work, i've flown in some tight spots around trees and it's saved me at least twice from my own stupidity. image quality is excellent, the 4k60 is smooth and the log footage grades really well if you know what you're doing in post

the not so good: battery life is still the main limitation, i get maybe 28-30 minutes in real conditions with any kind of wind, not the 34 minutes dji claims. the remote controller 3 is nice but i wish the screen was a bit brighter in direct sunlight. and honestly the price jump from the mini 3 pro is hard to justify unless you really need those sensors

i fly mostly landscape and some real estate stuff on the side so take my opinion with that in mind. would i buy it again? yeah probably, but i'd wait for a sale. paid full price and kinda regret not waiting

this matches pretty much everything ive experienced with mine, especially the battery thing. i think dji tests in zero wind conditions at like 50% speed or something because i have never once hit 34 minutes. ever. 27-29 is more realistic for normal flying

the obstacle avoidance saving you from yourself comment is very relatable lol. flew it through a gap between two buildings last month and it slowed itself down automatically, probably would have clipped the wall otherwise

one thing i'd add for anyone considering it ? if you're coming from a phantom or something bigger the size is a huge adjustment mentally, feels almost too small to trust at first but you get used to it fast

good writeup. im looking at this vs the air 3 and honestly the price difference is making me lean mini 4 pro even though the air 3 sensor is bigger. do you think the image quality difference is noticeable enough to matter for like casual use and maybe occasional paid gigs
