so ive had this thing sitting in the closet for like three months while i waited for good weather and a free weekend and last saturday everything lined up. drove out to the coast around 5am to catch the sunrise over the water and honestly i dont even know where to start.

the hasselblad sensor on this thing is just... i mean i knew it was supposed to be good but seeing the raw files on my monitor when i got home was something else. the dynamic range when the sun was just cracking over the horizon, you could see detail in both the shadows on the cliff face AND the blown out sky at the same time. i did very minimal editing.

one thing that caught me off guard though was the wind. it was probably gusting to 25-30mph at points and the mavic held its position almost perfectly. there was maybe a tiny bit of drift when the really hard gusts hit but it recovered instantly. never felt like i was gonna lose it which was a relief because i was flying over water maybe 60 feet up at one point.

battery life was pretty much what i expected, got about 38 minutes on my first pack in those conditions which isnt bad at all. anyway just wanted to share, if anyone is on the fence about this camera vs the regular mavic 3 i'd say go for the classic if you shoot a lot in mixed lighting. the single lens thing doesnt bother me as much as i thought it would.

that wind resistance is no joke right. i had mine out a few weeks ago and it was way gustier than the forecast said and the thing just locked in like it was nailed to the sky. did you shoot in D-Log M or just standard? curious how much grading you had to do on those sunrise shots because ive been going back and forth on whether to bother with log on shorter trips where i dont want to spend time grading.

nice, coast flying is the best. just be careful with the salt air if you fly near the water a lot, i wipe down my mavic after every coastal session, heard too many stories of corrosion getting into the motors over time. might be overkill but better safe than sorry with something that costs that much lol
