EVO II Pro V3 vs DJI - Worth the switch in 2024?

  • Members

I've been flying DJI drones for years but considering making the jump to Autel after all the geofencing headaches. The EVO II Pro V3 looks solid on paper - 40-minute battery life and 6K camera without the flight restrictions. The Autel EVO II Pro V3 is cheaper than the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, but it is not significantly inferior in terms of core flight performance, battery life, and safety. Has anyone made this switch recently?

Main questions: How's the real-world battery performance? Any regrets leaving the DJI ecosystem?

Made the switch 6 months ago and honestly loving it. Battery life was approximately 36-38 minutes. Not quite the 40 minutes promised, but a solid amount of time for even a large commercial solar survey. The freedom from geofencing alone was worth it - I can actually fly where I need to work.

Still on DJI here but genuinely curious about this too. The Autel specs look great but I'm worried about long-term support and parts availability. The Autel brand is simply less known than DJI, which makes it slightly more difficult to find accessories, batteries, or replacement parts. While this drone is powerful, there are concerns about whether Autel can truly keep up or match DJI in the long run.

The flight performance of the Autel EVO II Pro V3 is a bit of an enigma, as it demonstrated rock-solid stability in our testing, but the controls are quite twitchy and often sluggish in their response. The twitchy controls of the Autel EVO II Pro V3 are erratic, making it difficult to pilot confidently, especially in close quarters. This might be something to consider if precision flying is important to your work.
