ok so this has been bugging me for a while and i cant tell if its a me problem or a settings problem or just how it is. basically im flying and every now and then the feed just cuts out for maybe half a second, maybe a full second, then comes right back. the drone doesnt do anything weird it just keeps flying normally but the video feed goes grey and then pops back.

im using the RC-N1 controller that came with it. i dont think im flying super far, probably 400-500 feet out at most. it happens kind of randomly, sometimes close sometimes a bit further. doesnt seem to matter if theres buildings around or not, happened in an open field last weekend too.

is this just... a thing that happens? im pretty new to this so i genuinely dont know if this is normal behavior or if something is off with my setup. running the latest firmware i think, updated it when i first got the drone a couple months ago but havent checked since then.

check your firmware again, theres been a couple updates since launch and at least one of them specifically addressed RC link stability. go into the DJI Fly app settings and look for updates through there. also the RC-N1 uses your phones wifi chip basically so if you have wifi calling enabled on your phone or background apps doing stuff it can interfere. i turn on airplane mode and then manually re-enable bluetooth before flying, sounds weird but it actually helped my dropout issues a lot.

yeah this happened to me too when i first got mine, drove me crazy. turned out i had an app running in the background that was pinging the network every few seconds. killed all background apps before launching DJI Fly and the dropouts basically stopped. also worth trying a different USB cable between the controller and your phone if you havent already, the cheap ones that come in the box can be flaky with data transfer under load. sounds dumb but it made a difference for someone in my local flying club.
