so ive been flying the DJI FPV combo for about a year and a half now, mostly doing cinematic stuff around my area, some light freestyle when i feel like it. recently got the itch to grab an Avata and the whole goggles 2 situation is confusing me a bit. i already own the goggles v2 from my FPV setup and they work fine, no real complaints other than the FOV feeling a little narrow sometimes but i got used to it.

the thing is the Avata 2 bundles are pushing goggles 2 pretty hard and i keep reading that the experience is noticeably different but nobody really explains what that means practically. like is it the fit, the optics, the latency? i tried them at a shop for maybe 10 minutes and honestly couldnt tell that much of a difference but maybe thats not enough time. anybody whos used both for actual extended flying sessions have thoughts on this? mainly care about comfort on longer sessions and image quality, not really doing racing so low latency isnt my top priority

honestly the goggles 2 felt like a bigger jump to me coming from the v1 but going from v2 to g2 is more subtle. the micro OLED panels are genuinely nicer to look at for long sessions, less eye strain for me personally. the fit is also redesigned and i think most people find it more comfortable but thats really subjective, i have kind of a narrow face and the v2 actually sat better for me weirdly. if youre mostly doing calm cinematic flights and already have the v2 working id probably just stick with it and put the money toward ND filters or a better carry case or something. the Avata itself is the bigger upgrade over keeping the original FPV drone, the goggles are honestly fine for what you're doing

i switched to goggles 2 when i got my Avata and came from nothing so cant really compare directly but what i will say is after flying a friends setup with v2 the difference in panel quality is real and noticable. colors just look richer and the blacks are actually black which matters when youre flying through shadowy areas or treelines. that said my buddy flies with his v2 all the time and doesnt feel like hes missing out so maybe its one of those things where you dont miss what you never had consistently. the fit thing is genuinely personal though, try to borrow a pair for a full session before buying if you can
