do I need to register my drone if I only fly in my backyard?

  • Members

so ive been flying my mini 2 for a few months now just around my property and a local park and someone told me i need to register it with the FAA? I genuinely have no idea what the rules are here. I live in texas if that matters. the drone weighs under 250g i think so does that change anything? I really dont want to get in trouble but also dont want to jump through a bunch of hoops if i dont have to. any help appreciated

okay so the 250g thing is real - if your mini 2 is the standard version it comes in just under that threshold which means you dont technically need to register with the FAA for recreational flying. bu
