EVO II Pro keeps losing connection mid flight, no idea whats going on

  • Members

this has been driving me absolutely nuts. got my EVO II Pro back in late and its been solid up until maybe two months ago. now it just randomly drops connection, not full signal loss but the video feed cuts out and sometimes the controller shows a warning for a few seconds then comes back. happens more in one particular area i fly but also happened at my usual spot last weekend which never gave me issues before.

i updated the firmware a while back, not sure if thats when it started or if its a coincidence. havent changed anything else. the rugged controller is what im using. anybody dealt with this because i dont even know where to start troubleshooting it

few things to check -- first thing id do is look at what wifi channels are active in that area. the EVO II runs on 2.4 and 5.8 and if theres a ton of interference from routers or other transmitters nearby it can cause exactly what youre describing, especially if the area has gotten more developed or if neighbors got new routers. you can grab a wifi analyzer app on your phone and just walk around to see whats crowded.

also worth checking the antenna connections on the rugged controller, i had a similar intermittent dropout issue and one of mine was just ever so slightly loose. not broken just not fully seated. fixed it and been clean ever since. and if youre on the latest firmware and this started after an update id honestly check the autel forums too because sometimes a batch of people report the same issue after a specific version

yeah i had something similar on my EVO II and it turned out to be the cable connecting the controller to the phone was going bad. like the data connection for the video feed would get flaky. swapped it out and problem went away. might not be your issue but cheap and easy thing to rule out before going deeper into it
