ok so the Neo has been out for a bit now and ive been going back and forth on whether to grab one. currently on a Mini 2 which i love and has zero complaints about honestly but i keep seeing the Neo pop up and the whole palm takeoff thing and the tracking features look genuinely useful for solo shoots.

main thing im unsure about is the image quality tradeoff. from what ive seen the footage looks decent but a few reviews said it gets a bit soft in lower light and the wind resistance isnt great. i mostly fly coastal areas so wind is kinda a constant thing for me. my mini 2 handles moderate wind fine but there have been a couple times i pushed it a bit far.

not looking to spend a ton, the Neo price point is pretty reasonable which is part of the appeal. but if the wind thing is actually a real issue and not just reviewers being picky id probably just stick with what i have or look at something else. anyone actually using it regularly outdoors?

the wind thing is real imo. i had a Neo for about two months and in anything over maybe 18-20mph it gets pretty squirrely and the footage stabilization struggles to compensate fully. for calm days and indoor type content its genuinely great and the tracking is surprisingly solid, but coastal flying with real gusts i would be nervous. sold mine and went back to my Air 2S for outdoor work.

that said if you mostly fly calmer days and want something light and fun for solo content the value is hard to argue with at that price

the mini 2 to Neo upgrade path is kind of an odd one tbh, they're almost like different tool categories. Neo is more of a follow cam / vlog thing and the mini 2 is just a solid all around flier. depends what you actually want to do with it i guess. if you're doing a lot of stuff where you need it to track you autonomously then maybe, otherwise i'd honestly just keep the mini 2 until something more compelling comes along or save up for a bigger jump in quality
