mini 4 pro keeps drifting even with gps lock?

  • Members

so ive had my mini 4 pro for about 3 months now and for the most part its been fine but lately ive noticed it drifts a little when hovering, like maybe a meter or two over a few minutes. it has full gps lock and everything looks normal on the screen. wind wasnt crazy or anything, maybe light breeze. calibrated the compass before the flight too.

is this normal or should i be worried? i flew it over my neighbors yard yesterday and it crept closer to his fence than i wanted and kind of freaked me out a bit. not sure if its a sensor thing or maybe just the way these lighter drones behave

yeah the mini series in general is more susceptible to drift than heavier drones just because of the weight, even a light breeze can push it around more than you'd expect. that said a meter or two over a few minutes does sound a bit much. have you tried recalibrating the IMU not just the compass? people often forget thats a separate thing. do it on a flat surface indoors, took care of a similar issue i had with my mini 3.

also worth checking if youre flying near anything that could mess with the magnetometer, big metal structures, power lines, that kind of stuff. gps lock doesnt mean youre immune to that.
