ok so my girlfriend got me a DJI mini 2 for my birthday and ive been staring at it in the box for like three days now because honestly im kind of scared to break it. i watched a few youtube videos but they all seem to assume you already know stuff. like what does ATTI mode even mean and do i need to enable it or avoid it or what. also i live near a pretty small town, is there somewhere i just... look up if its ok to fly? i downloaded the DJI fly app and it seems to show some red zones but most of my area looks fine. anyway i dont really know what im asking i just feel like i should talk to actual people who've done this before buying it

atti mode is basically the drone flying without GPS assistance so it wont hold its position if theres any wind, it'll just drift. on the mini 2 you dont really need to worry about it for now, just fly in normal mode and let the GPS do its thing while you get used to the sticks. honestly the scariest part is the first liftoff and after that it gets way more natural. just find a big open field with no people around and hover at like 2 meters for a while before you try anything fancy. and yeah B4UFLY is the app a lot of us use to check airspace quickly, or just use the map in the DJI app itself, the red zones are pretty reliable for basic stuff.

i was in the exact same spot like 8 months ago lol. what helped me was just doing tiny flights in my backyard first, like barely off the ground, just getting used to which stick does what. i kept confusing yaw and roll for the first week. also dont fly when its windy at first even if the drone can technically handle it, it just adds stress when youre already nervous about crashing
