ok so my brother got me a mini 2 se for my birthday which was super unexpected and i have literally zero drone experience. ive been watching youtube videos and now im more confused than when i started because everyone seems to have like a whole bag of stuff and im not sure whats necessary vs just nice to have. i have the drone, the rc-n1 controller, one battery, and the usb cable it came with. do i need nd filters right away or is that more of a later thing. also do i need to register it somewhere, i live in the US. and is there a carrying case that people actually like that isnt crazy expensive

congrats on the gift, nice one. ok so registration first -- yes in the US you need to register with the FAA if you're flying outdoors, its like $5 for 3 years through their DroneZone website, pretty painless. ND filters honestly can wait, learn to fly it first and worry about that stuff once you're comfortable. extra batteries are more useful early on than any accessory, one battery goes fast. for a case the ones on amazon that are like $25-35 with the foam cutouts work fine, you dont need the official DJI one

nd filters are a later thing for sure, dont bother yet. the main thing nobody tells beginners is just download the DJI Fly app before anything else and go through the in-app tutorials, they're actually decent. also maybe fly it in your backyard or a park the first few times just to get a feel for it before you go anywhere interesting. I borked my first drone trying to do too much too soon lol. oh and get at least one more battery asap, you'll thank yourself
