so i just got back from iceland and honestly the drone stuff was way more complicated than i expected. did a ton of research beforehand and still got caught off guard by a few things. first off you need to register with the icelandic transport authority before you go, not when you get there, before. took me like 3 days to get the confirmation email and i was sweating it the whole time.
the highlands are mostly fine to fly but anywhere near the national parks is a no-go without special permits and those take weeks to get approved so plan way ahead. wind was insane near Landmannalaugar, my mini 3 was getting pushed around at like 40% stick input which was genuinely scary. ended up landing early both times i tried out there.
the footage i did get was absolutely worth it though. the lupine fields near the south coast are unreal from above. just go in june if you can, the midnight sun means you can fly at like 11pm in perfect golden hour light basically all day
