almost lost my mavic over the ocean in portugal lol

ok so this was a learning experience. was flying off this cliffside near sintra, absolutely stunning spot, and i didnt account for the wind coming off the ocean at all. thing got pushed way out over the water before i even realized what was happening, had to punch it back at full speed and the battery was screaming at me the whole time

made it back with like 8% left. my hands were shaking. the footage is incredible though so i guess it was worth it but probably wont do that again without checking the wind first. the gusts near cliffs are no joke, nothing like flying inland

    yeah cliff flying is a completely different thing, the updrafts and rotor wash off the rock faces messes with everything. always check windguru or at least ventusky before you go out near coastal area

    sintra is on my list, was the permit situation annoying there? i heard some parts of that area are restricted because of the palaces and historic sites
