okay so this was entirely my fault but still gave me a heart attack. was flying off this cliff near sintra, wind was super manageable on the ground but like 40m up it just got absolutely battered. rth kicked in which was great except i had set my rth altitude way too low and it nearly clipped the cliff face on the way back. landed fine but my hands were shaking. anyway sintra is unreal to fly around if you can get there early before the crowds and before the wind picks up, just maybe dont fly off the actual cliff edges like an idiot like i did

yeah coastal cliffs are no joke for wind, theres all kinds of weird updrafts and rotor turbulence you just cant predict from the ground. i always add like 30 extra meters to my rth altitude when im somewhere unfamiliar now, learned that the hard way in scotland

omg sintra is on my list so bad. was the permit situation okay there? i read portugal has some strict drone rules but couldnt find anything super clear about the coastal areas specifically
