flying in Costa Rica next month - any tips?

so ive been planning this trip for a while and only just started looking into drone rules there and honestly its a bit confusing. from what i can tell you need some kind of permit from DGAC but ive seen people say they just flew without one and had no issues. not sure what to believe

taking my mini 3 pro, nothing crazy. mostly want to get some beach and jungle footage. anyone done this recently or know what the actual deal is with enforcement?

went there two years ago with my mavic air 2 and honestly just flew at beaches early morning when nobody was around. never got stopped or questioned once. that said i did read up on the rules beforehand and technically yeah you're supposed to register or get a permit of some kind, i just didnt bother and got lucky i guess

the scenery is absolutely insane by the way. montezuma and the osa peninsula were unreal to fly. just watch out for the humidity, my gimbal started acting a bit weird after a few days

dont risk it without at least looking up the current regs on the DGAC website, they updated stuff somewhat recently i think. also national parks are a hard no, theres rangers and they will confiscate your gear if they catch you. plenty of other spots though so not a huge deal
