thinking about getting a prebuilt 5inch, is the Chimera7 actually worth it or am i just paying for the name

so ive been flying a self built 5inch for about two years now, nothing fancy just a stack i put together from leftover parts and some budget motors, it flies fine but i keep having to fix stuff and honestly im tired of the downtime. been looking at prebuilt options and the iFlight Nazgul and the GEPRC Mark series keep coming up but then someone in my local club mentioned the Chimera7 and now i cant stop reading about it.

my main thing is i do mostly freestyle, some proximity stuff in the woods behind my house, not racing. i dont need the absolute fastest tune but i do want something that feels locked in and doesnt require me to spend a weekend on betaflight just to make it fly normal. is the out of the box tune on these prebuilts actually usable or do you still have to go in and redo everything anyway. thats kind of my whole question i guess.

also running a DJI O3 setup so anything that doesnt play nice with that is kind of a non starter for me

the out of box tune on the Nazgul Evoque is honestly pretty decent, i was surprised. i've flown a few prebuilts over the years and usually i tear the pids apart within the first battery but on that on

cant speak to the Chimera specifically but i grabbed a GEPRC Mark5 HD a while back and flew it basically stock for ages. the tune wasnt perfect, there was a little propwash if i got sloppy on a split

the out of box tune on the Nazgul Evoque is honestly pretty decent, i was surprised. i've flown a few prebuilts over the years and usually i tear the pids apart within the first battery but on that one i actually left it mostly alone for like a month. ended up tweaking the master multiplier and dropping the D term a bit because it was getting a little warm on the ESCs during long proximity runs but thats about it. the Chimera7 is more of a 7inch thing obviously so if youre doing tight wood flying that might be overkill depending on your spot.

for O3 compatibility both the Nazgul and the GEPRC Mark4 have the correct sized cutouts and mounting in the canopy area, just double check which version youre looking at because the older Mark3 stuff was a bit of a hack to fit the air unit in cleanly.

cant speak to the Chimera specifically but i grabbed a GEPRC Mark5 HD a while back and flew it basically stock for ages. the tune wasnt perfect, there was a little propwash if i got sloppy on a split S but nothing that made it unflayable. way better than i expected for a prebuilt honestly. think people overcomplicate how much tuning you actually need to do if youre not racing
