yeah so this happened. flying into morocco and they just took it at customs. had all my paperwork, registered in the EU, had my flyer ID printed out, everything. the customs guy just wasnt having it and said i needed some kind of special permit that i had absolutely no idea about. did some research after the fact and apparently morocco requires a permit from their civil aviation authority that takes weeks to get approved and theres no guarantee. wish someone had told me that before i booked the trip honestly. got it back when i left the country but it sat in a storage room the whole two weeks. absolute waste. anyway always research the specific country you're going to, not just the general EU open category rules cause those dont apply outside the EU obviously

ouch. this is one of those things people dont think about until it happens to them. north africa in general is pretty strict, same deal in egypt and algeria. the problem is the info online is all over the place and half of it is outdated. i usually check the tim de goede drone laws site and then cross reference with a local facebook group for whatever country im going to. saved me a few times

wait they actually gave it back when you left? i heard stories of people just losing them entirely. thats at least something i guess. how did you even communicate with them about getting it back, did the hotel help or
