thinking about getting a prebuilt 5inch, is the diatone roma f5 still worth it in?

so ive been building my own quads for a few years now but honestly im just tired of the build process at this point, i want something i can just bind and fly without spending 3 weekends on it. been looking at the roma f5 because a buddy of mine has one and it rips but he got his like 18 months ago and im not sure if theres something better at that price point now.

main thing im using it for is freestyle, mostly outdoor, maybe some light cinematic stuff with an o3 on top. budget is around 250-300 without the camera. does the roma f5 still hold up or is there something that came out recently that makes more sense. also curious how bad the stock tune is because i know most prebuilts come with garbage defaults and i dont wanna spend forever in betaflight just to get it flying normal.

the roma f5 is fine but honestly for freestyle i'd lean toward the flywoo explorer or if you can stretch the budget a bit the iflight chimera7 is just a different league entirely, though thats a 7inch

the roma f5 is fine but honestly for freestyle i'd lean toward the flywoo explorer or if you can stretch the budget a bit the iflight chimera7 is just a different league entirely, though thats a 7inch so depends what you want. the roma tune out of the box is actually not terrible compared to like two years ago, diatone has gotten better about shipping reasonable defaults. you'll probably still want to tweak d term and maybe drop the master multiplier a bit but its not a disaster like some of the cheaper chinese prebuilts used to be.

if you're coming from building your own you'll notice it feels a little stiff in the roll at first, just bump up rc smoothing and it should feel more natural. the motors they ship it with are decent enough that you wont feel like you need to swap them immediately which is more than i can say for some competitors.

had mine for about 8 months, its been solid. crashed it into a tree pretty hard twice and nothing broke except a prop. only thing i changed in the tune was the throttle linearity felt weird to me but that might just be personal preference coming from my own builds. for 250ish its hard to complain
