flying in costa rica next month, anyone done this?

so im heading to costa rica for 3 weeks and obviously bringing the mavic. ive been reading up on the regs and honestly its a bit confusing. from what i can tell you need to register with DGAC but the website is half in spanish and i cant figure out if thats for tourists too or just residents. anyone actually flown there recently and knows whats up? mostly planning to fly around the cloud forests and maybe the coast near santa teresa.

also not sure how strict they are about national parks, ive heard some people just fly anyway and nothing happens but i dont really want to risk having my drone confiscated on day one of the trip

flew there back in march, the registration thing is real but i honestly didnt do it and had zero issues. that said i was mostly flying beaches and rural areas nowhere near official park entrances so your mileage may vary. the cloud forest areas like monteverde i wouldnt risk it, there were rangers around and they seemed pretty on it. costa rica generally felt pretty relaxed about drone stuff compared to like europe where they're constantly on your case but i wouldnt push it in protected areas

the light there in the mornings is absolutely insane by the way, like nothing ive shot before

not been to costa rica but just got back from panama which is similar situation I think. the registration stuff took me like an hour to figure out through google translate but i did it just to be safe. they emailed me a PDF i printed out and nobody ever asked for it lol. probably still worth doing though just to have something if someone stops you
