took the mini 3 to iceland and kinda regretted it

okay not regretted it exactly but man i was not prepared for the wind. like i knew it was gonna be windy but there were whole days where i just couldnt get the thing up safely, gusts were hitting 40+ mph and the mini 3 was just getting thrown around even when it did manage to take off. lost fpv signal twice near some cliffs which was terrifying even though it came back both times

genuinely think i should have brought something heavier. anyone travel with like a air 3 or something bigger to places with proper weather? the footage i did get was stunning obviously but felt like i spent half the trip just watching the wind meter and being sad

yeah the mini series is just not built for serious wind, i learned this the hard way in scotland. the weight savings that make it so travel friendly are exactly what make it sketchy in bad conditions. i ended up just only flying during the weird calm windows you get sometimes in the morning before the wind picks up. takes patience but you do get those shots eventually

honestly i feel this so much. took mine to the faroe islands and same deal. did you find the ND filters helped at all with the stabilization issue in wind or is that a dumb question, im still pretty new to this and not sure what actually helps vs what doesnt when its gusty
