anyone been to a fly-in before? thinking about going to my first one

so theres this fly-in happening about an hour from me next month and ive never been to one of these things before. like i dont really know what to expect, do you just show up and fly or is there like a schedule or whatever. my buddy went to one a few years back and said it was super chill but he flies helis not quads so idk if its the same vibe

also do people actually talk to each other there or is everyone just kind of doing their own thing with headphones on. i fly a 5inch freestyle setup mostly, wondering if thats even the kind of stuff people bring to these or if its all like whoops and tiny stuff

yeah theyre pretty chill usually, at least the ones ive been to. depends a lot on the organizer honestly. some have a loose schedule like maybe a race heat or two but mostly its just people flying and wandering around looking at each others gear. bring your whole kit, people love seeing builds up close and youll probably end up chatting about motors and props before you even get in the air lol

dont stress about fitting in, the freestyle guys always show up and do their thing, nobody cares what youre flying as long as youre not being an idiot about safety

i went to my first one last summer and honestly was kinda nervous but it ended up being great. i didnt even fly that much i just walked around and talked to people the whole time. saw some crazy builds i had no idea were possible. just go, worst case you fly a few packs and drive home
