been flying my mini 3 for about three weeks now, mostly just in my neighborhood park early mornings when its quiet. i feel like im not really improving that much? like i can take off and land okay and fly around in a straight line but the moment i try to do any kind of turn or track something it gets messy. a friend of mine said he was filming smooth cinematic stuff after a month but idk if he was exaggerating. is there like a normal timeline for this or does it depend on the person. i practice maybe 20-30 minutes every few days when i get the chance

your friend was probably exaggerating a bit or he was flying simulators before he got the real thing, that makes a HUGE difference. honestly 3 weeks is nothing, smooth footage takes way longer than people admit. the thing that clicked for me was learning to yaw and move forward at the same time instead of doing them separately, most beginners do one then the other and it looks choppy. keep at it, 20-30 mins every few days is actually decent consistent practice.

depends what you mean by decent tbh. flying around without crashing, pretty quick. actually getting shots that look good on video, took me probably 4 or 5 months before i stopped cringing at my own footage. and thats with flying way more than 20 min every few days. also wind makes everything harder, if youve been flying in calm conditions try going out when its a bit breezy and youll learn a ton fast even if it feels terrible at the time
