so ive been running my Mavic 3 for about a year and a half now and the stock gimbal has been fine but i keep getting this micro jitter on pans that i just cannot shake no matter what i do in post. tried all the gimbal calibrations, soft mounted it properly, checked the ribbon cable cause i thought maybe that was it. nothing.

started looking at third party options and honestly got pretty overwhelmed pretty fast. theres a bunch of stuff on aliexpress that looks like it might fit but i have no idea if the yaw axis control is gonna be handled by the flight controller or if i need a separate gimbal controller board. also not sure if i lose any of the camera telemetry that feeds into the app if i go that route.

mostly shooting real estate and some event stuff so i dont need cinematic perfection but the jitter is driving me nuts on slow reveals. anyone swapped out the gimbal on a consumer platform like this or am i just better off getting a used Inspire and calling it a day

the micro jitter on pans is almost always the gimbal motor tuning, not the gimbal itself. DJI locks you out of adjusting the PID values on consumer stuff which is super frustrating. before you go down the third party rabbit hole have you tried adding a small amount of weight to the camera body symmetrically? sounds dumb but it changes the inertia and sometimes smooths things out.

i went through something similar on a Phantom 4 Pro a while back and ended up just living with it honestly. the third party gimbal path on Mavic frames is genuinely painful because the connector pinout isnt documented anywhere official and the yaw control is tied into the main ESC board in a weird way. you basically end up with a dumb gimbal running on its own controller with no integration and you lose horizon leveling on banked turns. for real estate work that might actually matter to you.

cant you just stabilize the pans in resolve with the gyroflow plugin? i know its not ideal but for real estate stuff clients probably wont notice. i did a whole project last month with some pretty rough footage and gyroflow cleaned it up way better than i expected
