ok so ive been flying whoops and micros for like two years and i finally decided to just do a proper 5 inch freestyle build. ordered a mamba f405 stack last week and im going with the iflight xing2 2306 motors, or at least thats the plan. but now im second guessing myself because i keep seeing people talk about emax eco and also someone on reddit said the t-motor f40 pro iii is worth the price difference.

my use case is pretty much just freestyle, no racing, probably gonna run 4s to start because i have a bunch of 4s 1500mah packs already. im not trying to build a 1:1 thrust ratio monster, just want something that flies smooth and doesnt sound like a dying cat. budget for the motors is like 80-100 bucks for the set.

anyone running the xing2s? are they actually as good as the hype or is that just iflight marketing doing its thing

the xing2s are solid honestly, ive been running 2306 2450kv on my chameleon ti clone for about 8 months and they still spin true. on 4s freestyle they have more than enough punch and the temps stay reasonable if you're not just pinning the throttle constantly. one thing i will say is the bell tolerances felt a little looser than my brotherhobby raptors out of the box but i didnt have any actual issues from it.

the emax eco is fine if you're on a tight budget but the build quality is noticeably cheaper, like you can kind of tell when you're handling them. t-motor f40 pro iii is genuinely great but its hard to justify the price for freestyle when you're gonna crash and destroy one eventually anyway. i'd stick with your xing2 plan tbh.

what kv were you looking at for the xing2? because thats kind of a big deal for 4s. 2450kv is the usual recommendation but some people run 1700kv and slap a 6s pack on later when they want more headroom. just something to think about if you ever wanna upgrade packs down the road without buying new motors
