so ive been renting Inspire 2s for the past couple years for commercial work and finally thinking about buying one outright. the thing is every time i bring it up someone tells me its getting old and i should look at something else but i honestly havent found anything that gives me the same flexibility with lens options and the whole dual operator setup for serious cinema stuff.

currently shooting with the Zenmuse X7 and DL lenses which honestly i still think looks incredible, like ive had clients not believe it wasnt shot on something way more expensive. the raw output from that sensor just holds up in post in a way that matters when youre doing heavy color grades. but the question is whether DJI is actually going to keep supporting this thing or if im buying into something thats about to get abandoned. anyone still running one regularly for paid work?

still using mine almost every week, mostly corporate and some doc work. the X7 combo is honestly hard to argue with for the price point if you can find a good used body. my only real gripe at this point is parts availability is starting to get spottier, had to wait almost 3 weeks for a gimbal ribbon cable last spring which was a nightmare mid-project. but for dual op narrative work with a dedicated camera op on the sticks nothing else really competes at that price range, the M3 Pro and stuff like that just isnt the same workflow when a director wants to actually control the camera independently.

i get why people say its old but tbh the footage argument always wins. showed a comparison to a client once between X7 footage and some M-series stuff and they picked the X7 every time even without knowing which was which. the platform itself has quirks for sure, battery management is annoying and the prop guards are useless but whatever. if youre already comfortable with the workflow and your clients are happy just buy the thing, the resale isnt going to fall off a cliff anytime soon either since people still want them.
